Julia Crossland

Hello!

artist

Im Julia and Im an artist & illustrator - for now, you can find me in a small village just north of Sheffield where I live in a little riverside house with my partner and our small daughter.

I have always enjoyed making art, and my enthusiasm for it began as a child. I went on to study Interior Design at the University of Plymouth and since then I have followed the path of creativity, running my own sign writing business for several years before taking the plunge to finally start working as an artist. Since then I have taken part in exhibitions, run art workshops and had the pleasure of selling my work throughout the UK and internationally, and to date my paintings can be found in private collections as far afield as Australia, Canada and the USA.

As of this summer, 2009, I am delighted to now be represented by The Elizabeth Roy Literary Agency which "represents some of the finest writers and illustrators in the children's book market".

Working as an artist has offered me many exciting opportunities, and as well as producing smaller commissions for individuals, I have also been involved in designing and creating huge murals for large retail units in Ireland as well as for a 400 year old pub in South Devon.

I am inspired by many things; the sea, coastal villages and things like shells, beach huts and lighthouses. I also love nature, people and children and as time goes on I find myself working in a much more illustrative way and very much from the depths of my imagination.

Limited edition signed prints and hand made greetings cards are available at the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

For every individual card, and each box of cards that I sell, I will be donating 15%

to the Downs Syndrome Association.

This charity has special significance to me and my family as my little nephew Oliver was born with Downs Syndrome. For all the support and information they have provided since Oliver was born, it means alot to me to be able to give something back in return.

Thank you for helping me to support this charity.
